I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor, offering an integrative approach to therapy and counselling. I am a welcoming, friendly practitioner with the ability to make you feel at ease in a safe and comfortable space.

I believe that everyone has the capacity to look within themselves and make positive changes to improve their lives, wellbeing and mental health. Working in an integrative way, I use a person-centred approach, drawing on theories such as transactional analysis and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This means that I have a toolbox of counselling methods which I use during the counselling session depending on client’s wants and needs, allowing me to respond to specifically how the client is feeling in the moment.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is best seen as a collaborative process in which we work together to identify how best to achieve a sense of personal development and cope with life’s challenges. I am experienced in helping people deal with conflict and making decisions that will have a positive impact in their lives. Counselling has helped me in my own life to grow in confidence and self-belief and also to have healthier and happier relationships with others. I find it very rewarding to see other people develop their own strengths and resources.

I am also committed to my own personal ongoing professional development and attend regular workshops, seminars and courses. In line with the BACP guidelines I have regular supervision, hold a current DBS certificate and public liability insurance.

My particular areas of experience and expertise:

Areas that I have the most experience in are: Abuse, Anger, Anxiety, Baby/Child Loss, Bereavement, Body Image, Bullying, Confidence Issues, Depression, Eating Disorders, Friendships, Family Relationships, Fertility Issues, Grief, Health Concerns, OCD, Panic Attacks, Relationships, Self Harm and Stress. For a full list of other issues that I work with, please look at my Services page.

I also offer counselling sessions for children and young people, as well as adults. I have over 13 years’ experience working with children and young people, as a teacher and therapeutically as a counsellor. I have a degree in Primary Education and worked in Primary and High Schools’ for over ten years. I can help children to explore and express their feelings and thoughts in a safe way, particularly if they struggle to articulate themselves, the therapy often goes ‘beyond words. This can support children towards better social integration, growth and development, emotional wellbeing and helps to provide them with tools to better manage their wellbeing and mental health in the future.
